I'm thinking of withdrawing from the University. Where do I start?
Need some advice? Need someone to help you identify alternatives? Many offices on campus provide services that can help you decide if withdrawing from UNC Charlotte is the best option for you. I've decided that I am withdrawing from the University. What's the first step?
Withdrawing from UNC Charlotte may have significant academic and financial consequences, so:

1) Complete the withdrawal process on-line through the 49er Express by the deadline to withdraw from all courses.
2) Check the important links below to be sure you have completed the appropriate notifications so that you leave in the best shape academically and financially.
3) If you have questions about re-enrolling, contact your academic advisor to determine what steps you need to take.

  • What happens to your financial aid if you withdraw from the University? Please refer to the Satisfactory Academic Progress section of the Office of Student financial Aid website (http://www.finaid.uncc.edu/Withdrawal-info.html) to review the policy.

  • Students who drop all courses (officially withdraw from the University) may receive a full refund depending on the date of withdrawal. The amount of the withdrawal, if any, is subject to the Withdrawal Tuition & Fees Adjustment Schedule. Students assume academic and financial responsibility for the courses in which they enroll and are relieved of these responsibilities only by formally terminating enrollment.

  • For students who are experiencing health or personal issues that are affecting their ability to stay in school, the University offers free and confidential counseling services and comprehensive health care services.   • The Dean of Students Office works with students who experience a personal or medical crisis which prevents them from attending class for extended periods of time. Staff members are available to assist students and their families with withdrawals due to crisis situations.               Services (OASES)

  • OASES will gladly offer support to students who utilize our extended evening and weekend hours (Monday-Thursday 8am-7pm & Saturday 9am-1pm). Please visit the OASES website (www.oases.uncc.edu) for student assistance on withdrawing.

  • If a student-athlete completely withdraws from the University they will not be able to meet NCAA continuing eligibility requirements for the next semester. Consult the Athletic Academic Center before withdrawing.

  • checkmarkUniversity Career Center

  • Students considering withdrawing from the University and are enrolled in one of the University Career Center Experiential Learning 3500/6500 (internship) level courses or working as a Co-op/49ership as a part of the Experiential Learning Program should contact, prior to their withdrawal, their University Career Center Career Advisor.

  • checkmarkOffice of the Registrar

  • Students may withdraw from the University by accessing 49er Express. All withdrawn courses for the term will have grades of 'W' recorded on the official transcript. The deadlines may be found on the academic calendar. Any student who leaves the University for a period of one calendar year or longer must be readmitted to the University and will be required to meet degree requirements in effect at the time of return.

  • Graduate students should notify the Graduate Coordinator/Director of their program and their academic advisor in writing of their decision to withdraw. Similarly, graduate students are encouraged to confer with the  Assistant Dean of Graduate Student Affairs in the Graduate School, regarding their intent to withdraw. Withdrawal from the University may have financial consequences for students with tuition awards and/or graduate assistantships.
